Athlete Profile: Brian Bravante

Brian Bravante. Yeah, the guy who did 10 reps of his deadlift PR at the last test competition. #surprisedhimself. This guy comes in with the most positive, go-get-’em attitude every day, puts in work, and loves a new challenge, anytime/anyplace. Watch out for him sneaking up on ya next test comp!

What’s your athletic/fitness background?
My athletic background, I’ve played and conditioned for basketball back in middle school. I’m very athletic when it comes to sports, football, soccer, volleyball, ultimate frisbee, etc…As for my fitness background, I did a year of weight lifting for P.E. high school. Everything else I’ve learned being in the Army, going to gym, and working out to prepare for any military school, training, or the physical fitness test.

What was your first CrossFit workout and what did you think of it?
I was introduced to CrossFit when I was stationed in Germany, and did Barbara. It took me almost an hour to finish all 5 rounds, and the guy to introduced it to me added 20 dips after 10 pull-ups. yeah, terrible!!!

What’s been the biggest change for you since starting CrossFit?
My overall fitness and my body has sky rocketed since I started CrossFit.

What’s been your favorite DCF moment up to now?
The 2015 Intramural Competition

What’s been your least favorite DCF moment up to now?
I don’t have a least favorite. I’ve enjoyed everything DCF has offered me so far.

Least favorite CrossFit movement/WOD?
I hate thrusters, but I do them anyways!

Favorite CrossFit movement/WOD?
Clean and jerk

When did you know you were hooked?
After my first week on my unlimited sessions month

Any advice for people starting out?
Keep pushing, and don’t be afraid to try out the Performance WOD.
