Performance Nutrition Town Hall

DCF is thrilled to announce that we will be hosting another Performance Nutrition Town Hall with David ‘Chef’ Wallach.   Chef is the owner/head coach at CrossFit Rubicon, and also happens to be a human encyclopedia of nutritional knowledge.  He has graciously agreed to join us for another open-forum nutrition discussion at District CrossFit on February 4 at 3:30.

This will be our second Town Hall with Chef, and we at DCF have a reputation to live up to.  These events are an audience participation affair, and last time around our paleo-ninjas submitted a staggering number of questions to stoke the conversational flames.  This time around, we expect no different.  If you have any questions, concerns, or favorite topics of nutrition-related discussion, please submit those with reckless abandon to townhallDCF@cfrubicon.com.

All Paleo-Challenge participants are encouraged to join us, but if you want to attend we ask that you please make a donation to the fundraising efforts of Marine Cpl. Nick Thorn.  Cpl. Thorn, a member of CrossFit Rubicon, lost both of his legs due to an IED while serving our country in Afghanistan.  Suggested donation is $10 – a small price to pay for the abundance of knowledge you can be sure to garner from the event.  Donations to Cpl. Thorn can be made by clicking here.

EPIC DEADLIFT PIC! Hey Evan… looks like you’ve been working hard. You should take a few days off, maybe treat yourself to some carbs?

The truth is that Noah cut out the weight so no one would see that it’s just the bar… Pat, I see through your trickery. I’ll rest when I’m dead or the paleo challenge is over–whichever comes first.

Evan – from the look on her face behind you, it looks like you really intimidated Kate with that lift. Hard to do, man.

Hey Sana–if you read the blog–I emailed you, but must not have read it right, because it bounced back. My email is christianagallagher@gmail.com if you want to talk about how we’re the best paleo team ever!!

Noah–was that pic taken the day and time of that infamous grunt/scream that Evan let out??

@ Pat – if you’re going to Paleo sabotage someone, do it right. Offer a recipe like the one below for the world’s most delicious Mac n’ Cheese…as an example only. I’m not advising anyone to make it.

Evan – If I remember correctly, there was some loud grunts during this Saturday WOD. Don’t take my word tho, from the possessed look on my face, I was probably oblivious to your manly screams in my WOD “happy place”.

Pat – we should start calling you Regina George.

What do people think about using ketosis strips to make sure that you have transformed your metabolism into full bush paleo mode? Has anyone done this before?

  15. Sana A. 23 January 2012 at 12:21 pm permalink

Christiana- I’ll email you tonight! we can discuss how to kick ass.

  16. Mama K 23 January 2012 at 2:18 pm permalink

@Ralph – keto strips are expensive (I’ve used them for my diabetes.) I wouldn’t recommend their use for paleo but they will tell you if you are expressing ketones….

Thanks Mama K – I thought one of the paleo blog posts said that we are trying to switch into ketosis.

Speaking of, I’m only getting up to day 14 when I log in…

Hey guys! Sounds like there is so much great stuff going on at DCF these days. I miss it terribly. Good luck everyone on the paleo challenge.
Also, I was just cruising around the SICFIT site, and lo and behold there’s a pic of Jenn J. With an article about the upcoming 2012 Games and Regionals and the like. It was very cool to see Jenn getting famous for being such a badass! Check it out.

I may have lied about it being on sicfit. The link is games-beta.crossfit.com. Article is “Announcing the Regional Dates/Crossfit Games”
