Paleo Challenge: Day 9.  Click Here for the blog!!!

10 Minute AMRAP:
5 Power Snatches (95/65)
10 HR Pushups
15 Lateral Bar Jumps

Level 1 Skill: Push Press/Push Jerk

Paleo Open Mic

So we’re a little more than a week into the challenge now, and I suspect that for a lot of us paleo reality has started to set in.   Going through withdrawal?  Not sure where to get food?  Run out of recipe ideas?  Being in the thick of it now, we’ve started to get the impression that there are a lot of questions out there.  Chances are a lot of you have the same questions, and we want to do what we can to answer them.

If you have any particular concerns tugging at you, send us an email or post it to the blog comments.  Are green beans paleo? Is protein powder? What exactly is a ‘pork butt’ anyway? (hint: it’s not the butt) We’ll do the best we can to either answer it in the comments section, or maybe even write a separate blog post about it.  So ask away, paleo ninjas.

    Hey Everyone!

    So, I’ve mentioned this to Noah and am now posting it here:
    I know Paleo cooking can be a bit of a challenge, especially for those who can’t even boil an egg right! ;) So, I’ve decided to host a Paleo cooking lesson/pot luck kind of thing at my place. I live 2 blocks from the gym (or “box”) and thought this would be a good opportunity to share some of my mad skills in the kitchen. Hehe
    Haven’t set a day or time yet, but if anyone is interested, here’s my email: lopes1578@gmail.com.

    Send an email, giving me possible days/times you can make it, and maybe even some of your favorite foods and/or a dish you would like to learn how to cook.

    Paleo Question:
    Fats: which to use and why?
    I’ve been checking out a bunch of paleo recipes and articles and seen contradicting thoughts of varied fats. Coconut oil seems great, but others are questioned. What do people think/know about avocado oil, ghee, sunflower seed oil etc??

    Thanks a lot!

    Paleo Padawan asks this:

    Putting aside any disbelief, and starting with the premise “Paleo = best way to eat” the logical first question becomes:

    “Who gets to decide what is, or what is not, Paleo?”

    Is it a) Loren Cordain; b) athlete at Crossfit Whatever; c) witty dude with major Paleo blog?

    Second question is always: “ok… why them?”

    Is the answer a) Dr. Cordain is a scientist, the first advocate of Paleo, whose work has been peer-reviewed…..(do those credentials hold up to scrutiny?..wait…you got your Ph.D how?);

    b) seriously? Just look at Athlete X…they look amazing, seem uber healthy, and can do amazing things with their body….(do those credentials hold up to scrutiny?…can I see your lipid profile, sir?);

    c) blog dude is a super smart researcher, convincing, just makes sense to me, explains it well, and has yummy recipes…(do those credentials hold up to scrutiny?…wait, what creds?…can’t anyone can have a blog?… wait, caveman didn’t have Sunday morning pancakes? whatever..);

    Third question is naturally, “why can’t these guys agree about the value (or harm) of bacon?”

    Ponder.

    Yes on the withdrawal front. If my poor husband survives the Paleo Challenge it will be a miracle.

    Question, if dates are set for the various seminars that are coming up can you post those up? I want to take advantage of those resources as much as possible so I’d love to put them on my calendar now.
